Different People Move in Different Ways

Friday 15 June 2007

I've been reading some of the email responses about the cause for my break, and a couple of them bothered me. Some people aren't getting it, and that's fine, but I'll try to explain it again anyway: the actual labor of the move isn't the problem. The problem lies in the disassembly, packing, moving, unpacking, and reassembly of a rather valuable series of collections (sports cards, comic books, DVDs, regular books, CDs, home theater equipment, video games). It's not a one-day job, and it's not something that's easy to do properly - and I'm not one of those people who is content to let all that stuff sit around in boxes for months after the move. I'm also not one of those people who is willing to let paid help deal with my prized possessions.
