TWENTY YEARS!!!

Friday 4 November 2011

Thanks to astute reader "senam" from the peldor.com forums, I was reminded that I forgot that today marks the 20-year anninversary of the first episode I ever wrote, way back on 4 November 1991. Wow.

Time machine time. At the time I wrote that first story, beginning a most unpredicted and unplanned foray into writing, the following things were true: George H. W. Bush was the President of the United States, and Bill Clinton had just declared his intention to seek the Democratic nomination in the next year's election...the Minnesota Twins had just won the World Series, beating my local team, the Atlanta Braves, in a close and well-played 7-game series...the "perfect storm" ravaged the northeastern U.S. and Atlantic Canada. Two days after my first story, the Soviet KGB officially ceased operations, and a day after that, NBA star Magic Johnson informed the world that he had HIV. Later that month, German actor Klaus Kinski would pass away, followed by KISS drummer Eric Carr and Queen frontman Freddie Mercury. I could go on and on, reminding you about which now-famous events hadn't yet happened, and so on and so forth, but I think you get the idea.

Twenty years!

It's been fun, and though I've slowed down, I'm not done. In fact, episode 983 (which I've been writing on and off for the last week) is probably going to end up at 100K in size. I think the current Xusia dungeon complex will run three episodes: 982 (intro and top/easy levels), 983 (bulk of complex and main tough levels), and 984 (final level, awesome guardians, awesome treasures.) Enough said. Be tantalized!

And thanks for sticking with me for two decades.
